Section 9.29. covers interior wall and ceiling finishes: waterproof finishes at tubs and showers, wood furring, plaster, gypsum board, wood-based panels and tile. Section 9.30. covers flooring: where it is required, panel-type underlay, wood strip flooring, resilient flooring and ceramic tile. This is a smaller part of the exam, but the questions are almost all number lookups from short tables. Finishes must also meet the fire and sound rules in Sections 9.10. and 9.11. (OBC Div. B 9.29.1.1.OBC Div. B 9.29.1.1. Fire Protection and Sound Control(1) A wall or ceiling finish shall also conform to the appropriate requirements in Sections 9.10. and 9.11. in addition to the requirements in this Section.).

Common traps
- Taking 1.8 m (shower stall, measured from the floor) for a tub with a shower (1.2 m above the rim).
- Reading the painted-ceiling column when the question says textured.
- Mixing up the furring table's rows (furring spacing) and columns (support spacing).
- Using the "with subfloor" column for flooring laid directly on joists.
